About Me

Hi all!
.
My name is Kendra and I am the owner, operator of REmix Design. Growing up, I was surrounded by artistic people and rural settings that shaped and molded me into the hands on, detail-oriented designer I have become. My great-grandmother passed her green thumb and affection for the outdoors down to my mother. My grandfather was a professional water color artist and graphic designer who helped teach me the value of composition. My mother, who has a quiet creativity, was able to show me the warmth of thoughtful home decor, while my father still to this day gives me important lessons about power tools and working with your hands. I grew up surrounded by the trees which inspired my love of Mother Nature and still guides me in my thoughts and life choices.
.
I took these qualities to Penn State University in 2006 to study architecture. Looking back, I am able to see just how much I learned and grew as a conceptual designer. On paper and digitally, I created buildings that mirrored the moon's orbit, ones that welcomed wildlife and birds, and structures that reflected the constellations. I crafted lifelike models of my projects using wood, moss, and chipboard. I did this all while instilling important values of functionality and practicality. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Architecture degree in 2011.
.
After graduation I struggled to find full time work, but had an overwhelming desire to create. I began REmix Design with small DIY furniture projects for my personal space. Having a passionate love of nature drew me to work with recycled and reused materials, while decorating sustainably. Over the years, the business slowly grew beyond my imagination. I added house plants, home decor, and lifestyle products to give my customers the tools to make their home environment zen and calming. I used my skills and knowledge in architecture school to start designing residential spaces for renovations, flip houses, and custom homes. In 2019, I eventually opened my own brick and mortar store, all while balancing a full time job. I now host DIY workshops and plant classes at the store during my off hours. My retail store is my proudest achievement and I am ecstatic to share my work and style with my community and beyond.
.
Thank you so much for following along in my journey and for your support! I am so lucky that I have the greatest customers who appreciate my vision and work! Stay tuned for whatever comes next!
.
With love,
Kendra
